I tried Pestilence but it's not that great in practice. You can also do it with a R/Rt with Death Pact Signet or R/Mo with Vengeance for more deathly goodness. I filled my bar with Traps (Dust, Barbed, Viper's) and a blocking stance or two but the N/R varient was always best. Toxicity and Toxic Chill made it easy to spam Poison because Enchantments are so widespread or you could use your own hex to allow Toxic Chill to poison. Poison + Disease + Toxiciy is painful degeneration such that a bog-standard ZB monk couldn't cope with the pressure.
It's a pity Fertile costs so much now and the +health is lower meaning that the health drop when it ends is not as spikey.
8 person party wipes were great. The reactions made it fun to lose/draw.

Just got a 15 consec run in a great team.
I had the KD build, really good prot monk, hammer warr, Magebane ranger. We had the Ranger and Warrior take out the same target while I kept who I though would do the most damage or any other monks or rits snared and KD'ed.

Don't think I don't like to win, I do. But winning is better when you win a different way every time, at least for me.

Variety and learning different professions opens up a broadening perspective and expands gameplay and skill. However, due to a crummy D.Hex Update Sept 27th, all PvP has gone to crap IMO. You're stuck with whoever you got in any PvP arena, and if they intentionally came to die, you can either: a.) Stay, die and get mocked by opposing team... or b.) leave arena and suffer that lame d.hex for a no-good, unjust reason... RA is a good place to get grievers (equivalent to leavers cuz you just DIE at the end anyway...) I prefer having the right to leave a match... better to re-roll than get re-steamrolled by opposing team each time.

so, you want people to learn, but at the same time you say you want to leave cause people are learning, so you would prefer if all their teams kept quitting and they don't get better? wow, way to go!

No. I'm simply expressing my view of compare & contrast of RA; comparing then and now (in essence).
Back "then", we could leave a match and reroll for a balanced team; earning gladiator points was more fruitful that way.
"Now", we have to suffer a team of grievers, legitimately inexperienced players and imbalanced teams because the dishonorable combatant system (which is automated btw) will stick a bogus hex on us and won't allow us to re-enter RA, or any other PvP type for whatever time the hex perscribed.
Sadly, RA is FTL nowadays and alot of extremely dedicated and expert competitors have stopped PvPing completely. So many PvP guilds have become less active, suffered a loss of players and even quit the game to move on to other MMORPG's now due to just that one update alone. I'm not trying to flame here, but Arena Net has now officially catered to the casual side of the GWars Community from September on up to now...
Here's a good thought: Why not remove RA and replace it with BA (Balanced Arena), keeping the same random aspect but also keeping balance as a priority for fair combat. Otherwise, we all know that about 90% of balanced (vs. unbalanced) teams will take the cake. What's so random about a match if there is no exsisting balance? Just a thought (that I'm sure others have had as well).

yes, serious, good PvP guilds died cause of RA. whatever.
expert competitors? ROFL. you are so hilarious.
honestly, you want to know what the RA update changed? nothing, in fact, it cleared the game of unskilled farmers.

You are entitled to your opinion as I am entitled to mine. I respect your thoughts on RA, but mine are nowhere near aligned to yours. If you find pleasure in pain (i.e. Dishonorable Hex, Loss of Matches/Time, etc.) then more power to you. I'm glad that you don't care about farming gladiator titles, or care for the others that do for that matter...
But I do... For myself and for others...

Yours, not his. Quitting and retrying till you get a monk and 2 thumpers doesn't make you an expert competitor. Why do you tolerate this shit?
